Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean minced beef
  • 1/2 medium diced onion
  • 3-4 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon mixed Italian herbs
  • 1 cup dry orzo pasta
  • 1 can (14 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 3/4 cup beef stock
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese freshly grated
  • 2 cups fresh spinach leaves tightly packed
  • Salt and pepper as needed

Method

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the lean minced beef along with the diced onion. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through.
  2. Once the beef is cooked, stir in the minced garlic, red pepper flakes (if using), and mixed Italian herbs. Sauté for about one minute until fragrant.
  3. Add in the dry orzo pasta along with the tomato sauce and beef stock. Stir everything together and bring it to a gentle simmer.
  4. After about ten minutes of simmering, pour in heavy cream and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well until everything is combined smoothly.
  5. Fold in the fresh spinach leaves and let them wilt slightly before adding freshly grated parmesan cheese on top. Season with salt and pepper according to your taste preferences.
