Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract split
  • 2 cups blueberries divided
  • 2 loaves french bread cubed
  • 2 cups milk
  • 8 units eggs
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and half of the vanilla extract. Whip them together until smooth and creamy.
  2. Take half of your cubed French bread and place it evenly in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle half of the blueberries over the bread cubes. Then dollop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture on top. Repeat this layering process with the remaining bread cubes and blueberries.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon powder, nutmeg, and the remaining vanilla extract until fully combined. Pour this egg mixture evenly over all layers in your baking dish.
  4. Cover your baking dish tightly with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least eight hours—or overnight if possible.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the cover from your casserole and bake for about 75 minutes until golden brown on top.
  6. Once baked, let it cool slightly before serving. Pair it with maple syrup or a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.
